It’s Hump Day and we know what that means. You survived Monday, but the weekend is still just a little too far out of sight! Here are just a few tips to help you survive until Friday Night! 

 

Drink Water – Have you even had a glass of water today? I’m sure you’ve had your morning cup of coffee with your favorite, sugary sweetener. It’s recommended we drink half our body weight in ounces a day. It promotes cardiovascular health, keeps muscles and joints working, and helps cleanse toxins from your body and more! Just expect to take a few extra bathroom breaks throughout your day! 

Power of Breathing – Breathing is underrated. We take it for granted because we literally do it on autopilot. But did you know that mindful breathing has a TON of benefits? “Pranayama (the formal practice of controlling the breath) is at once a physical-health practice, mental-health practice, and meditation. It is not just breath training; its mind training that uses the breath as a vehicle,” says Roger Cole, Ph.D., “Pranayama makes your entire life better.” Scientific research suggests that pranayama is one of the most effective ways to reduce stress levels. It can even help improve the metabolism (for those of us currently trying to shake off a few extra pounds!)

Be active – If you’re like me, you’re the one-hour workout warrior. You dedicate an hour or two to the gym and spend the rest of your day either sitting in a chair working or on the couching watching tv, but this isn’t exactly great for your health. It doesn’t have to be anything strenuous. Go walk your day! Do a couple of air squats! Maybe just meet up with some friends and shoot some hoops! The more you move during the day, the better your body and mind will feel! 

Live in the Moment – I get it! Your day is the same as yesterday, which was just like the day before it. You’re probably going through the same routine, where it’s even starting to look like you have a specific shirt and meal for each day of the week! If we stay conscious of our day and try to put emphasis on what’s new, exciting, and positive, we’ll be able to just get that much more out of our day.

Sleep – Did you get your 8 hours of sleep last night? Probably not! You were probably watching your 20th personal rerun of ‘The Office’ or maybe you just accidentally found yourself in the weird part of youtube and couldn’t get out of it! Maybe you’re in bed right now, reading how to have a less stressful day, which then you should put your phone down. Right. Now. And get some rest!
